Uganda Chartered Healthnet (UCH)

Uganda Chartered Healthnet (UCH) is a local not-for profit non-government organisation registered in Uganda to promote the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by health workers. Initially founded as a joint project for the Faculty of Medicine, Makerere University and U.S.-based Satellife Inc.

UCH is poised to address the information needs of health workers in Uganda through innovative and appropriate use of technologies for the betterment of people's lives in Uganda.

Our mission is premised on the notions:

  • That there is a wealth of information out there

  • That our health workers lack the means to optimally collect, analyze and interpreter data which leads to knowledge and information needed for the timely and accurate diagnosis of the various diseases affecting mankind

  • That current advances in Information Technology (IT) render exceptional opportunities to counter the information poverty prevalent in many African countries including Uganda.
